Navpreet Kaur survives after acute damage to her liver and kidneys; Says, ‘God saved me’-Exclusive! – Times of India

Navpreet Kaur, who shot to fame in 2017 after bagging the Fbb Colors Miss India Punjab, was battling an acute liver-and-kidney condition in hospitals for 3 weeks. While many are speculating about the current status of her health, ETimes brings you an update that she is finally home.

A few minutes ago, Navpreet spoke to ETimes- first and exclusive. Navpreet has walked the ramp for many distinguished designers and appeared in several commercials.

Excerpts from the conversation that transpired:

How did the ordeal begin? What exactly happened?
It all began in Surat in the last week of September, when I was shooting for an ad. I was fine on Day 1. But when I woke up on Day 2, I had a severe headache and nausea. I thought these were the symptoms of PMS (Premenstrual Syndrome). But the symptoms did not subside; in fact they started escalating.

I realised that on the set, I could not cope up with the shoot. I constantly felt like vomiting, and then the vomiting actually began. Whatever I ate or drank, couldn’t be retained. I was throwing everything up, almost instantly.

I rushed to Mumbai and my parents joined me. I was shifted to Sujay Hospital (Juhu) in the ICU.

And then?
I was advised to have a liver transplant. I was told that my liver and kidneys both had been affected and they were malfunctioning. I also tested positive for Hepatitis A. You can’t even imagine the consequent palpitations I had; I didn’t sleep for 5 days even a wink.

I shifted to Global Hospital (Parel). I underwent dialysis about 5 to 6 times. After that, thankfully, the dialysis didn’t happen again.

Why had such a condition set in?
It was attributed to contaminated food. But I hadn’t eaten a single thing from outside for at least 25 days prior to that; it was all ghar ka khaana. So I beg to differ with the attribution to contaminated food.

A lot of inexplicable things are happening on the health front with many people after the onset of COVID in March 2020.

Did you question God: Why me?
Not really. But there was a question lurking in my mind: Why did this happen? But you know, in our daily race of routine life, we do not pause and pray, and if we pray we do not pray sufficiently.

I started getting up in the hospital early in the morning and began to pray. I woke up my mom too who was staying with me and we prayed together. I think God has saved me; I have got a new life. No liver transplant required now. But yes, kaafi saari medicines leni hain (I have to take a lot of medicines). I was in the hospital from September 29 to October 16 (see the exclusive picture below; Navpreet exiting from Global Hospital).

How are you feeling now?
I am much better, and I am slowly getting back to my normal life. I am allowed to eat everything but in small proportions. My parents, who live in Punjab and I, who stayed as a paying guest in Oshiwara, have shifted to a place which belongs to my friend. I have to see the doctors every two-three days. My next appointment is tomorrow.
