Actor Ajith, who is awaiting the release of his upcoming film ‘Valimai’ directed by H Vinoth, is one the most loved stars of the Tamil film industry, both by the fans and celebrities across the country. The star actor who is fondly known as Thala by his fans, had earlier in 2011 dismantled his fan clubs. Now, Ajith Kumar has requested his fans, public and the media as well to refer to him just by his name not as Thala or along with any other prefix before his name.

Ajith’s PRO Suresh Chandra has shared a note which reads, “To, The Respected members of the Media, public and genuine fans, I henceforth wish to be refered to as Ajith, Ajith Kumar or Just AKn not as “Thala” or anyother prefix b4 my name. I sincerely wish you all a beautiful life filled with Good health, Happiness, success, peace of mind and contentment forever. Love Ajith.” (sic)

Though the exact reason for Ajith’s decision to request everyone to drop ‘Thala’ which referring to him after two decades is not know, it is speculated that the online abuses between fans of the star actor and former Indian cricketer MS Dhoni, who is also called has Thala by the Chennai Super Kings fans could be the reason for this decision.

Fans had began referring to Ajith as Thala from his movie ‘Dheena’ with director AR Murugadoss. In the film, Dheena was called Thala in the film by the fellow actors, which had stuck with his name after the film’s success. From then on, not just fans, but the media and celebrities from the industry as well have been referring to Ajith as Thala.
