Dhanush and wife Aishwaryaa part ways; fans express shock as they extend support to estranged couple and Rajinikanth – Times of India

South star Dhanush on Monday sent shockwaves around Tinseltown after announcing his separation from filmmaker wife, Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth after 18 years of marriage.

Dhanush and Aishwarya, daughter of megastar Rajinikanth, tied the knot in 2004 and are parents to two sons, Yatra and Linga.

The two shared a note announcing their separation on their respective social media accounts.

“Eighteen years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well-wishers to each other. The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting and adapting. Today we stand at a place where our paths separate. Aishwaryaa and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better.

“Please do respect our decision and give us the needed privacy to deal with this. Om Namashivaaya! Spread love, D,” Dhanush shared in a note on Twitter.

Aishwaryaa also shared the same note on her handles and wrote, “No caption needed…only your understanding n your love necessary!”

News of their divorce came as a shock to many fans who took to Twitter to say, “It’s really shocking! So sad.”

Extending their support to the estranged couple during this trying time, fans shut down trolls and haters saying, “That’s unexpected and shocking! The reasons behind the break-up are none of our business. Media and fans should give them the space they need. We just wish #Dhanush and @ash_r_dhanush sis all the best for the future!”

Fans also sent Superstar Rajinikanth their love and strength. Taking to social media, fans got #Rajinikanth trending by posting notes to love and offering the superstar their support by saying, “Stay strong Thalaivaa”.

A fan wrote, “Heart goes out to Thalaivar @rajinikanth Heard he was emotionally drained during Soundarya’s divorce and now this Stay strong Thalaivaa.”

Aishwaryaa has directed films like the Tamil romantic thriller ‘3’ and black comedy ‘Vai Raja Vai’.

Dhanush, also a producer, was recently seen in the Aanand L Rai directed Hindi romantic drama ‘Atrangi Re’ and will next be seen in the Hollywood film ‘The Gray Man’ co-starring Chris Evans, Ryan Gosling and Ana de Armas.
