My brother Tiger is the king when it comes to fitness, says Krishna Shroff – Times of India


A trip to Hyderabad was always on Krishna Shroff’s wishlist but when the fitness and mixed martial arts expert came to town recently to attend an event, the experience exceeded all her expectations.

“The first thing that struck me as soon as I came to Hyderabad was how there’s so much greenery here. In Bombay, you don’t get to see much of that and it felt great to see so many trees while driving through Hyderabad,” says Krishna, adding, “This was my first trip to Hyderabad and it was a fantastic experience. I’m a big foodie and I had heard a lot about the food in Hyderabad, and it didn’t disappoint. The only thing that I missed out on was visiting the Charminar and other monuments in the city. Due to the COVID situation, I couldn’t go out much, but I hope to be back here soon and explore this beautiful city.”

Although she lives and breathes fitness, Krishna doesn’t hold back when it comes to food and makes sure to binge on the local cuisine of every new place she visits. “I’m a strong believer in making the most of every moment and like to experience the place as a whole. I’m blessed to be able to travel. Fitness is my life, but that doesn’t stop me from exploring new things. I always stick to my routine — I hit the gym everyday no matter where I am. So it’s all about striking that balance,” she says.


Her father Jackie Shroff is a veteran in Indian cinema while her brother Tiger is a leading Bollywood star. Krishna, however, chose a different path for herself. “Although I’m grateful for my family name, acting doesn’t interest me. I’ve had heaps of offers come my way but I’ve always been a big believer in following your passion. I think life’s too short to be doing something that makes you even 1% unhappy,” she says, adding, “Fitness is my life, my love and passion. Fitness has also given me an individuality and identity away from the glamour world. Whatever little I’ve been able to achieve away from the family name that I come from, I owe it to fitness. Dad’s money and dad’s fame can never buy you this. You have to work every single day at it. I’m very proud of it,” she says.

Krishna says she’s always been inspired by her brother when it comes to fitness. “My brother’s the king. I don’t think anyone can compete with him when it comes to fitness. In fact, both Tiger and I have always been into fitness since we were kids. We used to joke about how we attended school just so we could be on the sports team. So it’s always been at our core,” says Krishna, adding, “Tiger and I love to train together. It’s inspiring working out with him. We always have a little bit of fun at the gym where we keep challenging each other. One of the biggest myths that I’d like to bust is that women and men have to train differently. I feel women are just as capable. You can train just the same way as men and can still achieve your body goals and look sexy. Women aren’t producing the kind of testosterone as men are and lifting like them isn’t going to make you more bulky.”

The 28-year-old urges people to dedicate more time to some form of exercise to improve their physical and mental well-being. “I can speak for my own journey. Being an overweight kid and having received negative comments from the outside world, it affected my mindspace. After I found fitness, I automatically found the mental strength to deal with it. I got this new found sense of security and confidence that I never had while growing up. I really fell in love with fitness about five-and-a-half years ago. And once it became a lifestyle, it triggered a remarkable mental shift besides the obvious physical transformation. There’s been no looking back. It’s given me such a discipline and determination for my life that I never really had before,” says Krishna, signing off.
