‘The Batman‘ did good business, especially in metros and managed to rake in the big bucks while sharing the business with several other Bollywood releases. Over its extended weekend and early paid preview shows, the film earned an estimated Rs 21.50 crore nett.
The growth in numbers wasn’t as high as expected, but it must be noted that the film earned a major chunk of its revenue from metros and the English version. According to boxofficeindia.com, ‘The Batman‘ which was off to a flying start on Friday, did not do well in dubbed versions or in sectors outside big cities.
The report further adds that the film earned 20% of its business just from the Imax theatre chains that contributed to its all India business. ‘The Batman’ that earned an estimated Rs 5.75 crore on Friday and an additional Rs 75 lakh on Thursday, earned an estimated Rs 7.50 crore on Saturday and maintained the same numbers on Sunday.
The numbers have contributed to the film’s global success. It has done excellent business in US and Europe. The film that marks Pattinson’s turn as ‘The Batman’ collected $128.5 million in its box office debut in North America, making it only the second pandemic-era movie to cross the $100-million mark in a single weekend.
‘The Batman’ may have also benefited because the comic book adaptation is playing exclusively in theatres. The film marks a deviation as the studio’s first movie in more than a year that’s only available to watch in cinemas.
The film might have also been helped by the fact that it had notched up a PG-13 rating rather than R, and therefore was able to capture the key demographic of the younger audience.
