Keeping his angry young man moniker still relevant, Amitabh Bachchan shot for a TV commercial with director Amit Sharma and surprised the entire crew by his dedication and passion towards action and stunts.

The 79-year-old Amitabh Bachchan informed the crew and the director, just a few minutes before the shoot that he would perform his own stunts. Needless to say the production crew were both impressed and surprised.

Action director Manohar Verma who choreographed the action sequence, told ETimes, “We were prepared with a body double but when Mr Bachchan came on set he told the director that he would prefer to perform his own stunts. We had to take a lot of precautions, too.”

Mr Bachchan had to smash three toughened glass panels one after the other and he did it in almost one take for each of them. Verma said, “Mr Bachchan aced it like a pro and he clearly symbolises the fact that age is just a number.” Those who were present on set were reminded of the angry man of ‘Deewaar’ and ‘Zanjeer’.

Verma has worked on projects like ‘Sardar Udham’ and ‘Mirzapur’ of late, and has also worked with Mr Bachchan on commercials before. He has also worked on Shoojit Sircar’s ‘Shoebite’, which also had Mr Bachchan in the lead. Speaking about the senior actor’s professional ways and passion for action, Verma said, “He is number one and nobody can compete with him, not even from today’s generation. He is like a hand book for cinema, whether it is action or other scenes, too. His punctuality, his on-set ethics are phenomenal. He prefers to stay on set as much as he can and observes the smallest of action. He only goes to his vanity van during the break.”
