Taking to his social media handles to thank MCU fans for the outpour of love and support, Hemsworth wrote, “You brought the love, we brought the thunder! Thank you to all the fans around the world for 209 million views of our first trailer!!”

The numbers put it behind ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ (230 million) and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ (289 million)
. However, Tom Holland’s ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, still occupies the top spot with an astonishing 355.5 million views in its first 24 hours.

The fourth instalment of the superhero franchise, follows Thor on a quest for inner peace. However, his soul searching endeavours and retirement are interrupted when Gorr the God Butcher goes on a murderous spree seeking an extinction of the gods.

The almost one-and-a-half-minute long teaser, backed by Guns N’ Roses’ song ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’, opens with Thor working to get back into shape after the events of ‘Avengers: Endgame’. This latest Marvel Cinematic Universe chapter will also feature Chris Pratt as Star-Lord and a host of other ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’.

It also shows the God of Thunder getting his armour on and heading to battle to help King Valkyrie and Korg fight their common enemy.

The biggest moment in the teaser was left for last that featured Natalie Portman‘s Jane Foster arriving on the battlefield, wielding Mjolnir as Mighty Thor.

The teaser also featured a bunch of comic-book accurate scenes whether it was recreating the costumes or bringing some of the iconic moments from paper to the big screen.

The trailer which was packed with stunning visuals also features glimpses of the new Asgard and Valkyrie as the new king.

One person visibly absent from the teaser was Christian Bale’s Gorr. The actor will be seen playing the supervillain powerful enough to put even the mad Titan, Thanos to shame.

The bright and fun teaser sets a tone for the film in true Taika Waititi style, who previously directed the popular ‘Thor: Ragnarok’. The film is slated to release in cinemas on July 8.
