Mahima Chaudhry is not just brave but blessed. The actress, shooting in Lucknow with Anupam Kher for the film ‘The Signature’, tells us that first and foremost she needs to make it clear that she did not take any treatment for her breast cancer in the US. “People didn’t see the video fully, they have just jumped to conclude that I went to America for my treatment. But the fact is that I was very much in Mumbai.”

This morning, we woke up to the video put up by Anupam Kher where Mahima is telling him all about her cancer and the fact that not even her parents were in the know.

Secondly, Mahima reveals to ETimes that her cancer is now out and gone. “I am cancer free. It got all over about 3 to 4 months back.”

Thirdly, here’s how Mahima is blessed. Her daughter Aryana did not go to school while Mahima was recuperating. “She categorically told me that she’ll stay at home because she didn’t want to risk the COVID virus from coming home as I was in my recovery stage. So, she didn’t go to school when it reopened after the COVID phase. She took her classes online, they gave her that provision.”

For those who’ve come in late, TV actress Chhavi Mittal who also was diagnosed with breast cancer a couple of months back, happens to be Mahima’s friend. She sent a long voice note to us, wishing well for Mahima. Hear that voice note:

As for the film ‘The Signature’ is concerned, she says that Anupam Kher was emphatic that he wouldn’t change his decision to cast her but would rather work around her schedule. “He is a gem. He is so helpful. It is also ironic that now I have started getting movies.”

Ask her if she’s wearing a wig in ‘The Signature’, she says, “I am not going to tell you that,” and laughs.

“Cancer is very much treatable. It scares the sh** out of people but a lot of advances have been made in this field,” Mahima concluded.

Billed as a beautiful story of a common man, ‘The Signature’ is directed by Gajendra Ahire, best known for Marathi films such as ‘Not Only Mrs Raut’ and ‘The Silence’. The film is backed by KC Bokadia.
