Since a month or so, reports have been flying thick and fast that Akshay Kumar will be teaming up with producer Dinesh Vijan for the first time. The duo are said to be joining hands on an action film, set against the backdrop of the Indian Air Force.

Pinkvilla had reported a few days back: The paperwork is done and the duo are now working towards blocking the shoot dates. The film is expected to go on floors in the first quarter of 2023. Kumar plays the role of an Indian Air Force officer in the film. It’s an aviation based film, set in the period times, revisiting and celebrating one of the biggest victories of the Indian Air Force.

Well, ETimes can now tell you FIRST and EXCLUSIVE that if all goes well, the man who will direct the film is Sandeep Kewlani. Akshay has always encouraged young and new directors in his career and this movie will be Kelwani’s first assignment as a director. Akshay loved the script and did not take long to say ‘yes’ and Vijan is also buoyant about working with Akshay. Vijan’s Maddock Films’ team is going all out on the film and are visibly excited about it. As on date, the shooting dates have not yet been fully finalised but it should happen soon.

Kewlani is a writer who graduated to assist in the Amitabh Bachchan-Ajay Devgn-Rakul Preet Singh flick ‘Runway 34’ as an Associate Director. ‘Runway 34’ directed by Devgn was Kewlani’s script and so is the on-shoot Devgn film ‘Bholaa’ (currently being shot in Ramoji Studios in Hyderabad).

An official announcement on this film is expected next month and Akshay, Vijan and Kewlani are planning to release it in 2024.
