This remake is big and promises to cut through the clutter. ‘The Transporter’ (French: Le Transporteur)- a 2002 English-language French action-thriller film directed by Corey Yuen and Louis Leterrier and written by Luc Besson- is going to be remade.

ETimes has also heard that Ali Abbas Zafar will not only direct the film but also produce it. Ali is very excited about this project. He had been contemplating buying the rights for a long time but it officially happened about 8 weeks back.

Vishal Rana will join Ali as a producer and a big studio is expected to collaborate as well.

The original starred Jason Statham as Frank Martin, a driver for hire—a mercenary “transporter” who will deliver anything, anywhere, no questions asked—for the right price. It also starred Shu Qi as Lai Kwai.

And who will play Jason Statham? “Well, Ali is clear that he wants a young action star. It is not yet decided who will get into Statham’s shoes but a decision in this regard will be taken shortly,” says a source.

Currently, Ali Abbas Zafar is busy with the pre-production of his Akshay Kumar-Tiger Shroff starrer ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ which begins in December; the shoot is being planned on a very big scale across several places in Europe.

As for the remake of ‘The Transporter’, it will go on floors by the end of 2023. The modalities are fast being worked out.
