Jason Alexander found guilty of trespass and battery after crashing Britney Spears’ wedding to Sam Asghari – Times of India

Britney Spears’s ex-husband Jason Alexander was found guilty of trespass and battery, a court ruled on Thursday. Alexander, who crashed the singer’s wedding and live-streamed it on his social media handle, pleaded no contest to the misdemeanour offences, Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko stated.

According to online court reports, Alexander was sentenced to credit for time served after serving 64 days in jail since his arrest in June.

He was also issued a criminal protective order prohibiting him from coming within 100 yards of both Britney and her security guard who tackled him and tried to remove him off the singer’s property.

“We’re happy with the result,” said Erin Meister, the supervising deputy DA who prosecuted the case.

“The defendant accepted responsibility for what he did on June 9 — he ended up spending two months in jail — and the victims’ priority was the protective order,” Meister said in a statement reported by USAToday.

Alexander was arrested at Spears’ residence on June 9 after he showed up uninvited. He reportedly damaged a door and battered a security guard while being taken out of the singer’s property.

Shortly after the incident, Spears and Asghari were granted a restraining order against Alexander.

Security officials had stated that Alexander was armed with a knife at the wedding function.

A California judge found that there was enough evidence against Alexander to go to trial on a felony stalking charge. After a two-hour preliminary hearing, Ventura County Judge David Worley ruled that the 40-year-old should be held to answer on the charge, along with misdemeanour counts of trespassing, vandalism and battery.

Jason and Britney were childhood friends and got married in 2004 for 55 hours, after that the marriage was called off.
