Amidst Neha Kakkar and Falguni Pathak controversy, AR Rahman slams remake culture; calls it ‘distorted’ – Times of India

Singer Neha Kakkar recently received backlash on social media after she remade Falguni Pathak’s popular and iconic song, ‘Maine Payal Hai Chhankai’ called ‘O Sajna’. The ‘dandiya queen’ too expressed her displeasure over the same.

Music maestro AR Rahman was asked about his views on the matter recently. Sharing his opinion, Rahman stated that the more he sees, the more it is distorted. According to him, through remakes, the intention of the composer gets distorted. The legend also questioned people who say they are reimagining.

Rahman said that he is also very careful about taking someone else’s work. You have to be respectful. It is a grey area, we need to sort it out, he told IndiaToday.in.

On the work front, Rahman is currently promoting his upcoming film, ‘Ponniyin Selvan-I’. The Mani Ratnam directorial stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Trisha Krishnan, and others. It is slated to hit the theatres on September 30.
