The makers of ‘Pushpa: The Rising’ had reached out to Jisshu U Sengupta to play the main villain in the Allu Arjun-starrer but he couldn’t do the film due to date issues. Now, earlier this week rumours started doing the rounds that the dashing actor is set to play the villain in ‘Pushpa 2’. The media reports made Jisshu’s fans all too excited.

Well, now ETimes brings you the exclusive news and it would surely disappoint those who were keen to see the popular actor in ‘Pushpa 2’. He’s not a part of the much-anticipated sequel. Yes, you read it right! We reached out to a source close to Jisshu and she has confirmed the news. “All those reports that claimed that Jisshu U Sengupta is playing the villain in the ‘Pushpa’ sequel are baseless. I can confirm that he’s not a part of ‘Pushpa: The Rule’. You can quote me on this,” the actor’s manager exclusively told ETimes.

Although there were no confirmation from the production team, director, or the actor buzz was strong that Jisshu has already bagged the antagonist’s role in ‘Pushpa 2’. Speculation was rife that the character was first offered to Vijay Sethupathi but the popular South actor had to say no because of his previous commitments. Then buzz was strong that the makers have contacted Jisshu for the villain’s role. But, now we know these are just rumours and the Bengali actor is not playing any role in ‘Pushpa: The Rule’.

Interestingly, Jisshu might be not a part of ‘Pushpa 2’ but he is playing a key role in Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Dev Mohan’s period drama ‘Shaakuntalam’ which is set to release on November 4.

Meanwhile, ‘Pushpa 2’ will see Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandana, and Fahadh Faasil reprising their roles. Earlier there were reports that suggested that a major portion of the film will be shot in West Bengal’s Bankura. However, the makers reportedly changed the shooting location later and there hasn’t been any news about the shooting schedule.

‘Pushpa: The Rise’, the first film received an overwhelming response in 2021 and such was the craze that the Telugu film was later dubbed into Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada as well. The action entertainer became one of the biggest blockbusters last year and the huge success made Allu Arjun a global star overnight.
