Vikram Gokhale passes away at Pune hospital due to multiple organ failure – Times of India

Vikram Gokhale, who was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Pune, passed away today, his family confirmed. His mortal remains will be kept at Balgandharva Rangmandir in Pune at 4 pm for family and friends to pay their last respects, post which the funeral will be held at 6pm at Pune’s Vaikunth Smashan Bhumi.”

The veteran actor was in a critical condition and was hospitalised for over 15 days. His wife had confirmed to ETimes that Vikram Gokhale had suffered multiple-organ failure. He is survived by wife Vrushali Gokhle and two daughters.

Vikram Gokhale has delivered an impactful performance as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s father in Sanjay Leela Bhansali helmed ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ (1999). Vikram Gokhale has also featured in Bollywood hits like ‘Hey Ram’, ‘Tum Bin’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’, ‘Hichki’ and ‘Mission Mangal’ to name a few. His last Bollywood film was ‘Nikamma’ (2022), co-starring Abhimanyu Dassani, Shirley Setia and Shilpa Shetty.

Vikram Gokhale had a an acting academy in Pune, where he was based since the past several years with his wife.

While speaking to ETimes, the veteran actor had reminisced how Amitabh Bachchan had lent him a helping hand during his initial days in Bollywood. “I went through a lot of struggle when I entered this Industry. I was going through a huge financial crunch and was looking for shelter in Mumbai. When Amitabh Bachchan came to know about this, he personally wrote a letter to Manohar Joshi, who was the Chief Minister of Maharashtra during 1995-99. And I got a house from the government only because of his recommendation. I still have that letter with me which I have framed. I am so proud that he knows me and I know him. We are friends from the last 55 years. I just love his attitude and nature,” Vikram Gokhale had told ETimes in 2021.
