Away from the glitz and glamour, Bollywood can be an extremely dark place. The constant stress of doing well, making enough money and being in the limelight often drives actors and directors to develop mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, known for helming projects like Gangs of Wasseypur and Udaan amongst others, recently opened up on his battle with depression and other health disorders.

In an interview with Indian Express, the 50-year-old revealed that he went through some troubling times after his movie Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat was delayed due to Covid and his web series Tandav faced some issues. Elaborating further, the talented filmmaker said that he does not direct massive projects that can sustain him and his crew for a long time. Adding that he even suffered a heart attack in the interim, the “Masaan” director revealed that he went to rehab thrice during this period.

However, Anurag adds that he is in a much better place now and that he has been constantly making films, while limping back to normalcy.

Almost Pyaar With Dj Mohabbat, with Alaya F and Karan Mehta in lead roles will hit theatres early next year.
