Supreme Court granted anticipatory bail to Raj Kundra, Poonam Pandey and Sherlyn Chopra pornography case. Their bail is in connection to an FIR which was filed against them for allegedly distributing pornographic videos. “Having heard the counsel for the parties, we are of the view that the petitioners may be granted anticipatory bail,” a bench of Justices K M Joseph and B V Nagarathna stated. Supreme Court’s decision comes weeks after the Raj Kundra’s plea for pre-arrest protection was rejected by the Bombay High Court in the case.

A chargesheet was filed by the Maharashtra Cyber Police accusing Raj Kundra of creating pornographic content and distributing it on streaming platforms. According to a news portal, Shilpa Shetty’s husband was also allegedly accused of adult content at five-star hotels along with Sherlyn Chopra and Poonam Pandey, film producer Meeta Jhunjhunwala and cameraman Raju Dubey. Last year Raj Kundra was embroiled in controversy after he was arrested for alleged creation and distribution of pornographic content. After two months of his arrest, the businessman was granted bail.

Reacting to the chargesheet, Raj Kundra’s lawyer Prashant Patil had previously told ETimes, “We have got to know from media reports that the Mumbai Cyber Crime has filed a chargesheet in the said matter before the Honourable Court. We shall be present before the Honourable Court to comply with the due process of law and collect the copy of the chargesheet.” He further stated, “Whatever allegations we could understand from the FIR and media reports, it can be safely concluded that my client Mr Raj Kundra has nothing to do with the said crime. There is no prima facie case made out against him. We shall follow the due process of law and ensure that he gets justice.”
