Sonam Kapoor starrer ‘Blind’ opts for a direct-to-OTT release – Times of India

After a gap of four years, Sonam Kapoor is all set for her next release. She will next be seen in Shome Makhija’s ‘Blind’.
Reports are now rife that the makers of the Sonam starrer have opted for a direct-to-OTT release for the film. According to a report in a news portal, Due to the unpredictable scenario at the box office, the makers felt that it was apt that it could premiere on OTT. Also, it’s an edge-of-the-seat thriller and can make for a fine experience for viewers at home.

The report also added that the film went through quite a journey before the deal with an OTT platform was signed. Last year, the makers of ‘Blind’ approached a digital platform. But the price quoted by the streaming giant to buy the film was less than what the producers expected. Hence, they declined and approached another OTT platform. ‘Blind’ is co-produced by Sujoy Ghosh and he is directing and producing ‘The Devotion Of Suspect X’, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, for the digital platform. So he tried selling both these films to the latter as a package. However, the deal fell through as again, the amount that the OTT giant was ready to shell for Blind was not satisfactory.

The makers of ‘Blind’ then went back to the platform they first approached and the deal was locked. It is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2023. It also stars Purab Kohli, Vinay Pathak and Lillete Dubey. The film is the official remake of the 2011 Korean film of the same name. It is a story of a blind police officer in search of a serial killer.
