Richa Chadha on Satish Kaushik’s demise: We just played Holi together; both Ali Fazal and I are gutted – Times of India

Satish Kaushik, who celebrated the festival of colours with Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal at Javed Akhtar’s Holi party, passed away on March 8 after suffering from a heart attack.
Talking fondly about it, Richa recalled, “Satish sir met me for the first time after ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ in 2012-13. He spoke to me as he wanted to do a film. He was very encouraging. He used to say, it doesn’t matter if you are an outsider. If you have talent, you will succeed. He was kind, sweet and full of life and anecdotes. He loved making people laugh with his stories. He used to share stories from his AD days and from the days when he was directing. I have had the opportunity to spend time with him on multiple occasions, once on a flight and once at his house where we discussed a script. He was one of the most loved people around.”

She further added, “He has seen a lot of trouble and a lot of grief also in his life. However, he was always optimistic and grateful. It is genuinely a loss for the industry. I am a little numb because we just played Holi together. The photos which are there on the internet are from 2PM on March 7 and we are talking at 10AM on March 9 that he is gone. It is really shocking. Both Ali (Fazal) and I are gutted. We had planned to meet for a meal this month. I am feeling quite terrible. My heartfelt condolences to the family.”

Kaushik was visiting someone in Gurugram when his health deteriorated and he suffered a heart attack in a car. According to reports, his body will be brought to Mumbai after a postmortem is conducted.
