Director Pradeep Sarkar passed away on Friday morning and his news came in like a shock to his friend from the industry. The director was undegoing dialysis and his potassium levels have dropped drastically. He was rushed to the hospital where he passed away. He was close to many actresses from the industry like Vidya Balan, Rani Mukerji, Dia Mirza among others. He launched Vidya with ‘Parineeta’.
Richa Chadha had done a music video with him a few years ago which was titled ‘Neel Samandar’. The actress dropped a BTS footage and remembered him. She expressed, “Pradeep Sarkar (1955-2023) . Watch the next 90 seconds like a short film, about a day on a set or several days together.. or bonding with a stranger and his loved ones on a beautiful island, (wearing jute and pleather and working very hard) …woke up to grim news yesterday…sad to hear, hard to process. 💔Only worked with Dada once, that too for a little while… I haven’t done many lip sync songs , but had the fortune of doing one with him. Always eager to explore, childlike… a man who’s work reflected what he believed in… love🫀 deepest condolences to the family and to all who I know will feel his loss in a personal way.”

The actress said he instantly made women feel comfortable around him. This footage sees him enacting some expressions for Richa and explainining the actors what to do. Richa further added, “Look at his eyes light up as he performs while calling the shots literally. Will miss you. And you will be missed by all too… something has to be said about a man who instantly makes women feel comfortable… they don’t make them like this anymore #❣️Rest in peace Dada”
Interestingly, Sarkar has largely done female-driven movies. Be it ‘Parineeta’, or ‘Laga Chunri Mein Daag’, ‘Mardani’ or ‘Helicopter Eela’. The director’s last rites took place yesterday at Santacruz Cremetorium.
