‘Pathu Thala’ box office collection day 5: Silambarasan’s remake film inches close to Rs 50 crores – Times of India



Silambarasan starrer ‘Pathu Thala’ was released in theatres last Thursday, March 30 and the film opened prior to a normal Friday release aiming to have a massive opening. Receiving above-average reviews from the audience, ‘Pathu Thala’ continues well in theatres. As per the latest report on the film’s box office collection, Silambarasan’s remake film is now marching close to Rs 50 crores. ‘Pathu Thala’ is the Tamil remake of the Kannada film ‘Mufti’ and the film looks like a successful remake. The remake film reportedly racked up almost Rs 6 crores on Monday (April 3) to take the film’s overall collection close to Rs 48 crores.
‘Pathu Thala’ is set to surpass the Rs 50 crore mark today on its 6th day and is set to develop as one of the highest-grossing films of Silambarasan. In Tamil Nadu, ‘Pathu Thala’ has reportedly grossed around Rs 30 crores, and the film’s collection in the home state looks solid when comparing other locations. With fewer releases in Tamil this week, ‘Pathu Thala’ is expected to hold its screens for the second week and the film will emerge as the third continuous blockbuster of Silambarasan.

Directed by Obeli Krishna, Silambarasan plays a gang leader AGR in ‘Pathu Thala’, while Gautham Karthik, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Gautham Menon, and Kalaiyarasan strike well with their respective supporting roles. AR Rahman scored the music and his music lit up the fire for the action scenes.
