The kind of love you get from the Telugu audience is something else: Saiee Manjrekar – Times of India ►

Saiee Manjrekar is currently in Hyderabad filming for Boyapati Srinu’s untitled movie starring Ram Pothineni. “I’ve only been here for a few days, but I’m already having a blast filming this movie. Ram has been kind, he even helped me out in a few scenes. As for Boyapati sir, he explains every minute detail so well, it’s a ball to work with him,” says the actress, settling down for a chat with Hyderabad Times, after a long day of shoot.
Saiee made her Tollywood debut in the 2022 film Ghani, starring Varun Tej, after appearing in the 2019 Hindi film Dabangg 3. “In Ghani, I played a bubbly girl-next-door Maya. Simultaneously, I was shooting for the more pathos-laden Isha from Major. In my next film, I play a smart, hard-working girl. I’ve been lucky to get such varied characters so early in my career. It has been both challenging and fulfilling,” she says.

The actress has visited Hyderabad multiple times and seems to share a special connection with the city. “I’ve been visiting this city since I was a child. Once, I even came on a school trip. But when I came here to promote Dabangg 3, the experience changed my life. The kind of love I received from the audience here was truly something else. Then filmmakers began approaching me for exciting projects, and I just couldn’t say no!” she explains.
Over the years, Saiee has developed a fondness for the local cuisine. “My absolute favourite has to be the tomato pappu and gongura pickle with rice. I also adore the food during Ramzan, particularly the kebabs and malpua from the Old City,” she reveals. “I haven’t had much time to explore the touristy places here, but the food is something I never miss out on.”

Talking about juggling between projects in Bollywood and Tollywood, she says, “I’m currently also shooting for an exciting thriller with Ajay Devgn and Jimmy Shergill. I think the only difference between the two industries is the language. Otherwise, my experiences of working in Mumbai and Hyderabad have been quite similar so far.”

For the actress, her parents Mahesh and Medha (both actors) are her pillars of strength and source of inspiration. “I grew up watching them do all kinds of films, which is what I want for myself. I want to play diverse roles and star in movies that are challenging and exciting. My parents are really supportive of me, and while they do offer me tips on acting, they’ve also taught me important values like respecting my craft, behaving professionally on set, and treating people with kindness,” she says, signing off.
