After the mega-blockbuster success of ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’, the sequel to Mani Ratnam‘s directorial debut, “Ponniyin Selvan 2,” was released in theatres last week on April 28. The historical drama satisfied the fans well enough to open big at the box office. The latest report regarding the ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’ box office collection claims that the historical drama has grossed almost Rs 265 crores worldwide at the end of day 7. But the collection of the film on day 7 (May 4, Thursday) has dropped immensely, and the film has reportedly grossed less than Rs 9 crore.
In Tamil Nadu, ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’ is inching towards the 100 crore mark, while the domestic collection of the film stays at Rs 133 crore. The overseas collection has powered the film, as it is already mounting into the top position in the USA, UK, Australia, and Gulf regions.
