The Kabir Khan directed sports drama, based on India’s 1983 Cricket World Cup victory didn’t perform as well as it was expected to at the box office. However, the Ranveer Singh starrer found its audience on the OTT platform. And now, the film will be screened at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, considered to be the Mecca of Cricket, where India won the coveted trophy for the first time.
Reports suggest that it was the management at Lord’s that reached out to the makers of the film saying they want to hold a special screening of the same. Director Kabir Khan stated that it is common to screen films where they were shot, like The Shawshank Redemption held screenings at leading prisons.
Khan also added that along with him, former cricketers Kapil Dev and Balwinder Singh Sandhu will be present for the screening and will also interact with the audience. In fact, he also revealed that the screening will take place on ground and the audience will be seated on the turf, helping them get as much of a real experience as possible. There is no confirmation yet whether the actors of the movie will be present for the same or not.
Besides Ranveer Singh, 83 co-starred Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Ammy Virk, Saqib Saleem, Harrdy Sandhu, Sahil Khattar and Deepika Padukone in an extended cameo.
