Naseeruddin Shah echoes Ratna Pathak Shah’s view on actors’ excessive entourages | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

A few months ago, veteran actress Ratna Pathak Shah expressed her opinion about actors with extensive entourages, referring to them as frivolous and self-absorbed. Now, her husband Naseeruddin Shah has come forward to support her stance, labeling such behavior as immature.
During an interview, Naseeruddin Shah shared his perspective on the matter, stating that entourages often serve as a mere display of power, symbolizing the arrival of a star. He went on to reveal that throughout his career, he has managed with just one manager, seeing no need to have a large entourage surrounding him. In fact, he recollected an incident where Shabana Azmi had suggested hiring a public relations person, but he had little interest in doing so.
Furthermore, Naseeruddin Shah mentioned that for the longest time, he didn’t even have a personal make-up artist. It was only when he began working on numerous films that he realized the impracticality of relying on different makeup artists each time. As a result, he chose to work with Jairaj, who had previously served as an assistant to one of the make-up artists. Jairaj is now not only his makeup artist but also his manager, the sole person he requires on set during shoots.
In echoing his wife’s sentiments, Naseeruddin Shah emphasized the importance of simplicity and efficiency in the industry, questioning the necessity of large entourages for actors.
