Johnny Lever lauds Vir Das for his Emmy Award win, says ‘it’s a proud moment for stand-up community’ – Times of India

Vir Das has made India proud as he won his first International Emmy Award. The ceremony held on Monday night, awarded him for ‘Best Comedy’ for his series, ‘Vir Das: Landing’. He shared his award with ‘Derry Girls’ season 3.
In an emotional post, Vir dedicated his Emmy to India and Indian comedy. He shared a picture with his award and wrote, “For India 🇮🇳 For Indian Comedy.Every breath, every word. Thank you to the @iemmys for this incredible honour.”
The comedian, actor looked dapper in a black suit as he held his prestigious award. He’s been showered with congratulatory wishes from all over. Johnny Lever who’s considered the OG when it comes to stand-up comedy and comedy in movies as well, has now lauded Vir for this achievement. Johnny feels this is a big achievement for the stand-up community. The actor took to X (Twitter) and he wrote, “Elated to hear the news this morning…Hearty congratulations @virdas. This is a proud moment for us & our stand-up community. More power to you! God bless”

Meanwhile, Vir also penned a note for Shefali Shah and Jim Sarbh who were with him on the Emmy’s red carpet. Shefai was nominated in the ‘Best Actress’ category for her show ‘Delhi Crime’. But she lost the award to Karla Souza who won it for ‘La Cada [Dive]’. Meanwhile, Jim Sarbh missed out on Best Actor award. Martin Freeman won it.
Vir dropped a note and said, “As we all know @ShefaliShah_ is a once in a generation talent and @jimSarbh is well on the same path. I could not have more admiration and respect for who they are, and their sublime craft. It was an honour to be nominated with them, learn from them, and witness their artistry. @iemmys”
Ektaa Kapoor was presented the award for her significant contribution to the world of arts and entertainment.
