Kiran Rao reflects on ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ failure and its impact on Aamir Khan | – Times of India

Aamir Khan put his best foot forward to remake Oscar winning movie ‘Forrest Gump’ but the efforts fell flat. 2022 release ‘Laal Singh Chaddha‘ failed to get much eyeballs at the box office, ending its theatrical run with just Rs 61 crore.
In a recent interview Aamir’s former wife Kiran Rao reflected on the failure of ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ and how it adversely affected the actor.“It’s really disheartening when you put in all the effort and it doesn’t work, which happened with Laal Singh Chaddha and it definitely affected Aamir quite deeply,” Kiran said, while adding that the film’s failure not just impacted Aamir but also the team who worked on it. Directed by Advait Chandan, ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ also starred Kareena Kapoor Khan, Naga Chaitanya and Mona Singh.
Soon after the disaster of ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, Aamir Khan announced his decision to take a break from acting. Announcing that he has stepped down from Champions remake, Aamir had shared, “When I am doing a film as an actor, I get so lost in that, that nothing else happens in my life. Which is why I decided to take a break. I was supposed to do a film called Champions after Laal Singh Chaddha. It’s a wonderful script and a beautiful story. It’s a very heartwarming and lovely film, but I wanted to take a break. I want to be with my family, my mom, and my kids. I have been working for 35 years, and I have been single-mindedly focused on my work… And I feel it’s unfair to the people close to me. It’s not fair to me also, in many ways. This is the time for me to experience life differently.”
