Mouni Roy opens up about facing rejection: ‘I was told that I don’t have the talent to become a Bollywood actor’ | – Times of India

Mouni Roy is one of the few Bollywood actresses who has successfully transitioned from TV to films. At the trailer launch of her upcoming web series Showtime, Mouni opened up about facing rejection and how she was typecast into glam roles in the industry.
“If you ask me if I have been typecast, then yes, of course, I have. But I also have been very, very lucky with directors who had the vision to see me in different roles and parts. Like Emraan Hashmi says, it may be a fair industry but I truly believe that it’s a very difficult industry,” Mouni Roy told News18.
Mouni also underlined the fact that there’s no struggle without hard work and a lot of challenges as she believes that there is no shortcut to success, stating, “I truly believe work begets work.”

She further said that giving one’s all to each project, be it dancing or an acting part, people will start taking you seriously sooner or later. “That’s been the only mantra of my life. If I am talking to someone, they have my 100 percent attention and the rest is confetti,” Mouni added.

Talking about facing rejection in the industry, Mouni said that she was told that she does not have the talent to become a Bollywood actor. However, she added that she holds no bitterness towards the industry despite being snubbed by makers as she is determined to move ahead in her career.
This statement came when Karan Johar asked Mouni to answer a rapid-fire question about the kind of rumour she would like to spread about herself. And she replied, “A rumor that I would like to spread about myself is that I am doing your next directorial.
