Raj Kundra gets interim relief in cyber department-related pornography case – Times of India

Raj Kundra, who was arrested by the Mumbai crime branch on July 19 for alleged creation of pornographic content, had applied for anticipatory bail in a cyber department case. And now the Bombay High Court had granted interim relief to the businessman. He had applied for anticipatory bail in connection to Maharashtra Police Cyber Cell’s case of 2020 and the HC has kept his anticipatory bail application hearing for next Wednesday, 25th August.

Raj Kundra, who is married to Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, had applied for bail after the cyber police had registered an FIR against various platforms, which, they alleged, were involved in showcasing pornographic content. In the adult film racket case, Raj Kundra’s lawyer had stated that the 45-year-old businessman’s arrest was illegal. However, public prosecutor Aruna Pai had informed the HC that the 45-year-old businessman was arrested because he had started deleting WhatsApp groups and chats, thus ‘destroying evidence’. It was further revealed that the Mumbai crime branch had seized 51 pornographic films from two apps, reportedly Hotshots and Bolly Fame. Aruna Pai also said that there was an email message from Kundra on his Hotshot app with Pardeep Bakshi, his brother-in-law, who owns a company in London.

Shilpa Shettyw as also reportedly questioned by the cops while their Juhu bungalow was raided by the Mumbai Police. Later on, Shilpa Shetty issued a statement on social media, maintaining that she will refrain from commenting on the case, “Yes! The past few days have been challenging, on every front. There have been a lot of rumours and accusations. A lot of unwarranted aspersions on me cast by the media and (not so) well wishers as well. A lot of trolling/questions posed… not only to me but also to my family. MY STAND… I HAVE NOT COMMENTED YET and will continue to refrain from doing so on this case as it is subjudice, so please stop attributing false quotes on my behalf. Reiterating my philosophy of, as a celebrity “Never complain, never explain”. All I will say is, as it’s an on-going investigation, I have full faith in the Mumbai Police & the Indian judiciary. As a family, we are taking recourse to all our available legal remedies. But, till then I humbly request you – especially as a MOTHER – to respect our privacy for my children’s sake and request you to refrain from commenting on half-baked information without verifying the veracity of the same. I am a proud law-abiding Indian citizen and a hardworking professional for the last 29 years. People have put their faith in ME & I’ve never let anyone down. So, most importantly, I request you to respect my family’s and ‘my right’ to privacy in these times. We don’t deserve a media trial. Please let the law take its course. Satyamev Jayate! With Positivity and Gratitude, Shilpa Shetty Kundra”.
