Actor Milind Gunaji says he missed out on playing Kuljeet in Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ for THIS reason | Hindi Movie News – Times of India



Milind Gunaji is known for playing supporting roles in many movies like ‘Virasat’, ‘Devdas’ among many others. But did you know that the actor was also offered to play Kuljeet in ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayanege’? Eventually, the part was played by Parmeet Sethi. Milind recently spoke about this and revealed the reason for not being a part of an iconic film this Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan starrer.Kuljeet is the character who Simran’s father wanted her to marry in Punjab.
Milind said during a chat with Rajshri Unplugged, “I had a chance to do the role that Parmeet Sethi did but I was asked to shave off my beard for that. That was their requirement for the character. But I was stuck in continuity for 2-3 other films and it was all back to back so I couldn’t shave. I had to say no to such a big director. I felt really bad. And later, that film became such a big hit. It’s still counted as one of the greats of all time.”
The actor still feels deep regret for not being able to play the part. “Every artiste faces these kind of things. You get these opportunities and you have to be on the lookout for such things,” he said.
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is considered to be the longest running film of Hindi cinema as it continues to play till date at Maratha Mandir. The film directed by Aditya Chopra is considered iconic for many reasons and has a fan following which is not even restricted to just the Indian audience.
