Ayushmann Khurrana on 4 Years of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan; People of India want to discuss taboo topics out in the open – Times of India

Known for bringing a change in the stories of Indian cinema, time and again Ayushmann Khurrana has proved his mettle with rich content driven films he chooses to work on. The actor who made an unconventional debut by being a part of ‘Vicky Donor’ has indeed come a long way and crafted a niche for himself among other star celebs. Having said that, the actor reminisced his fondest memories from another such unconventional film ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ which also happens to clock 4 years today.

Taking to Instagram to share a video montage from his shooting days, Ayushmann penned a thought provoking note which read, “I debuted in Bollywood with a bold taboo subject of sperm donation in Vicky Donor, thanks to Shoojit Da, and that showed me how the audience was changing and embracing subjects that was disruptive”

He also added, “With Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, I returned to this territory with Aanand L. Rai and R.S. Prasanna. Their genius was in sensitively showing a subject like erectile dysfunction and making it entertaining and supremely palatable for audiences to engage”

Speaking of the content consumption of Indian entertainment, the actor stated, “After Vicky Donor, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan reinstated my belief that the people of India want to discuss taboo topics out in the open and in their own way address them for the good of society”

On a closing note he wrote, “Shubh Mangal Saavdhan gave me the courage to pick my subsequent films and put all my faith behind it. I thank everyone associated with this film for empowering me as an artiste. #4YearsOfShubhMangalSaavdhan”

Back in 2017, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan was one of the highest grossing films in Bollywood. Helmed by R. S. Prasanna and produced by Aanand L. Rai, the movie also starred Bhumi Pednekar in a pivotal role. The film is a remake of the director’s Tamil film ‘Kalyana Samayal Saadham’.
