In a recent interview on a radio show, Nia revealed she doesn’t see herself walking into a production office for films simply because she believes people might underestimate her talent because of her small-screen background. To this, she was asked if she has ever met a ‘big Bollywood director or producer’ who had a similar reaction.
Nia unapologetically revealed that she once had a meeting for a small role in ‘Manikarnika’. Recalling the ‘stupid conversation’ at the office, the actress said it was a waste of her time where she was told ‘you look so hot’. Reacting to the statement, Nia added that she could only reply by saying ‘seriously?’ and never went back for the film.
Starring Kangana Ranaut as Rani Laxmibai, ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ was originally helmed by Krish Jagarlamudi. Later Kangana claimed directorial credit after she said she took over the project and re-shot the film once the director had ‘abandoned’ the project.
However, the filmmaker denied the allegations and further alleged Kangana for ‘hijacking’ his film.
Apart from Kangana, the film also starred Ankita Lokhande, Jissu Sengupta, Atul Kulkarni and more in pivotal roles.
