The three executive directors of Ashtavinayak Cinevision (producers of Jab We Met’, ‘Golmaal’ series)— Rupen Amlani, Dhaval Jatania and Hiren Gandhi— were released from jail in 2018 after serving nearly a year’s sentence. The trio was imprisoned in Arthur Road Jail from May 10, 2017 for their alleged role in the Rs 824 crore scam involving misappropriation of public funds.
Ashtavinayak’s head honcho Raj Mehta and his son Dhillin Mehta (Managing Director) were jailed on April 15, 2015. Raj was 57 then and Dhillin was 33; Raj is 63 now and Dhillin is 39.
Now after nearly 6.5 years, Raj Mehta (Harshad Purshottamdas Mehta his real name) has got conditional bail and he will come out from jail either this evening or sometime tomorrow; the larger likelihood being the latter. The bail order, sources tell ETimes, was given last evening.
Ashtavinayak Cinevision produced films like ‘Jab We Met’, ‘Golmaal’ series, ‘Rockstar’, ‘Kidnap’ and ‘Blue’ amongst several others.
