‘Sooryavanshi’ box office early estimates day 2: Akshay Kumar starrer maintains hold over ticket window – Times of India

Sooryavanshi‘ starring Akshay Kumar was off to a roaring start at the box office on Friday. The film that opened to a good Rs 26.29 crore nett on Day 1, managed to maintain its hold on Saturday.

According to early estimates on boxofficeindia.com, the film managed to hold up very well on its second day, earning approximately Rs 24.50 crore nett. The drop in collections is expected to be around just 5-10% as its release falls on a major festive weekend.

Following its release of Friday, it has been reported that ticket sales in big multiplexes were better on Saturday morning. The other factors that aided the box office growth were the reopening of theatres in cities with 50% occupancy rule.

While collections in most circuits are likely to see a minor drop, the Mumbai circuit is expected to hold strong and maintain its collections as audiences return to theatres after 18 long months in lockdown.

With early estimates indicating that the film has already sailed past the Rs 50 crore mark, it is reported that surpassing the Rs 70-75 crore mark will be an easy feat for the film to achieve.

While it is certain that ‘Sooryavanshi’ will continue to hold strong through the weekend, it remains to be seen if it can keep the momentum going well into the week, after the holiday period.

Nonetheless, the cop-action flick is a sure shot hit even though trade experts predict a huge drop in ticket prices on Monday at the national multiplexes.

The film is managing to rake in the big bucks at the box office despite reports of HD copies of the film being available for download on pirated sites. Reports on Saturday confirmed that the film had been leaked online, mere hours after its release in theatres.
