So far, actors like Nani, Pawan Kalyan, Chiranjeevi, Raghavendra Rao & Balakrishna have spoken openly against the AP government asking the Govt to rethink their decision as according to the actors, it is not favouring the film industry and its professionals.
Now South actor Siddharth who is known for his straightforwardness has joined the list of the above actors to slash the government with a series of tweets from his official Twitter handle.
“the government doesn’t tell any restaurant to fix the rates of an idly or coffee but why does it restrict and fix the rates for film tickets,” he questions in one of the tweets he made.
The ‘Bommarillu’ actor also suggested the governments calculate the average house rent and per capita consumer spending on durables in an area and devise a formula to set ticket rates for cinemas in that area, if not universally.
Also, he added, that the G.O’s for ticket rates and limited no. of shows is an MRTP violation and questioned the govt, “Would you go and question politicians and businessmen who came from poverty and died billionaires? Stop persecuting the film industry”.
“A film’s budget and scale are not decided by the consumer, but it is decided by the creator and the investor therefore no individual has a right to decide how much anyone earns from cinema #savecinema”.
In one of his tweets, he also recalled, “The first time I saw a movie abroad was 25 years ago. I used my student ID card and saw a movie for 8 dollars. That was Rs.200 at that time. Today our films match all countries in technology, talent and employment…#Savecinema,” he wrote.
The ‘
Jabardasth‘ actor further slammed saying “We know the value of food and the greatness of the farmer who gives us our daily meals. We will fight for them always…we may not be as great as the farmer but we are also humans and taxpayers #Savecinema”.
“We work hard and put our livelihood on the line to entertain and create art. Stop killing the hand that tries to entertain #Savecinema”.
Here is the series of tweets made by Siddharth against the new AP Govt’s G.O. in order.
