Ananya Panday: There’s no better time to be an artiste that today – Times of India

After the release of Khaali Peeli in 2020, Ananya Panday has spent the whole of 2021 working on different projects and handling a few ups and downs in her personal space. The year brought her a mixed bag of experiences. At a recent event when we met her and asked her about how she plans to bring in 2022, Ananya said, “I am planning to bring in 2022 with a lot of happiness, good health and some good movies. On the personal front, I want to do something low key with the people I love and the people who matter to me.”

On the work front, her romantic drama, helmed by Shakun Batra, co-starring Deepika Padukone and Siddhant Chaturvedi, will be unveiled soon, followed by her multilingual debut opposite Vijay Deverakonda in Puri Jagannadh’s Liger. “I also have to start shooting for Kho Gaye Hum Kahan with Siddhant and Adarsh Gourav. It’s going to be directed by Arjun Singh and I can’t wait to start that one. It’s an exciting project. I have a happy, packed year with all these releases and some more announcements that are yet in the pipeline,” said Ananya, excitedly.

While she shook a leg with Will Smith in her debut, Student of the Year 2, Ananya will share screen space with Mike Tyson in Liger, which is also his Bollywood debut. When we brought this up, she said, “It has been a dream come true for me. I mean, I love Will Smith and he was a part of my debut film and now, I’m working with Mike Tyson. I didn’t know if it would really happen but, here we are. It has happened indeed! I have danced with Will Smith and I’ve shot scenes with Mike Tyson. When he just went in front of the camera, he owned it – he was so cool and powerful. He has such a magnetic personality. I was stunned. I didn’t know Mike Tyson would shoot with us. I can never forget the day we shot together.”

Ananya, in a career spanning a few years, has already had a mix of releases – on the OTT platforms and in cinemas – a trend likely to continue in the business in the future. When asked about it, Ananya said, “This is such an exciting time to be an actor. I mean, cinemas are opening up and people are going in with popcorns and enjoying a good movie. It was a blast watching Sooryavanshi on the big screen. And at the same time, there are amazing stories that are being told through the OTT platforms. So, I am looking forward to a lot of action in both places. There is exciting content everywhere and there is no better time to be an artiste than today.”
