After the success of his hit number ‘Aaila Re Aaila‘ from Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh starrer ‘Sooryavanshi’, his recently released song from song ‘Garda‘ from Aanand L Rai’s offering ‘Atrangi Re‘ has caught everyone’s attention. In an exclusive conversation with ETimes, Daler Mehndi spoke about the success of this song featuring Akshay Kumar, memories associated with it, and his fondness towards AR. Rahman. “I am very much happy to know that the song is getting popular in a short period. Importantly, my voice suits Akshay Kumar in the song. The first time when I heard the composition and lyrics of this song, one thing that came up to my mind was that no one can stop this song from becoming a chartbuster,” opines the singer.
“I have always been a follower of Rahman saab’s work and love his songs. He called me to record this song in Chennai and he was very clear that I should be singing this song and when I sang the catchphrase for the first time ‘Saala Garda Uda Diya’ in front of AR Rahman, I saw a sense of contentment on his face; that was the best moment for me while recording this song,” shares Daler Mehndi as he goes down the memory lane.
Daler Mahendi is happy that things in the music and the film industry are getting back to normalcy after two years. ” It feels good that everything is slowly getting back to the track but I would like to mention that Daler Mehndi’s songs were very much present during the pandemic. The title song from Hansal Mehta’s 2020 film ‘Chhalaang’ has encouraged many during the hard times,” he expresses.
Apart from ‘Sooryavanshi and Atrangi Re’, Daler Mehndi crooned songs for the films like ‘Hum Do, Hamare Do’ and ‘Bekudi’ in recent times.
