Pushpa: Five reasons to watch the Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna starrer – Times of India

Sukumar’s Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil starrer Pushpa is all set to hit screens this Friday. The first part of the film Pushpa: The Rise tells the tale of an underdog’s rise to power. With music by Devi Sri Prasad, the film will see Allu Arjun in a completely new avatar, a de-glam role he has never played before. Shot in the forests of Maredumalli, the film revolves around the topic of red sanders smuggling. While movie buffs and fans have numerous reasons to watch the film, take a look at five reasons why you should if you think otherwise:

Allu Arjun’s Pushpa Raj

Allu Arjun transformed himself physically by growing his hair out and looking leaner to play Pushpa Raj, a coolie turned smuggler. The role required him to not just sit in the makeup chair for hours but also travel well into the Maredumalli forest to shoot key scenes. Usually known as the Stylish Star, the actor even rebranded himself as Icon Star in hope that the rustic role will give him a chance to show off a whole new side of him.

Rashmika Mandanna’s Srivalli

Rashmika Mandanna hails from Coorg, so not only did she have to learn Telugu after working in TFI, she had to learn the Chittoor slang in particular for the film. To play Srivalli, the actress went de-glam and will be seen in simple langa vonis and sarees with her skin bronzed up. Her song from the film, Saami Saami, will definitely be one to watch out for if the promo is anything to go by.

Fahadh Faasil’s Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat

Malayalam star Fahadh Faasil has been roped in to play a police officer called Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, whom Allu Arjun’s Pushpa will face-off in the film. The actor went bald for his role and it looks like this is another character that gives him an opportunity to show off his acting prowess. It’s being speculated that the actor will be present for a portion of Pushpa: The Rise, becoming the main conflict in part two.

Samantha’s special number

Samantha will feature in the first special number of her career – Oo Antava Oo Oo Antava – composed by Devi Sri Prasad. Just her stills from the song have taken over the internet, making one wonder how the audience in the theatre will react once she comes on the big-screen to shake a leg with Allu Arjun. The actress looks better than ever in this catchy number that’s on everyone’s mind.

Interesting story and characters

Sukumar’s last film Rangasthalam was a massive hit for the story he penned apart from the way the characters were fleshed out. Fans and movie buffs now expect nothing less from Pushpa, seeing as how the film is set in forestland. With actors like Sunil, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Dhanunjaya and others on-board, apart from technicians like Mirosław Kuba Brożek and Devi Sri Prasad, the film has high expectations pinned on it.
