Javed Akhtar files a reply to Kangana Ranaut’s petition: Complying to criminal procedure code cannot be construed as ‘threats’ or bias’ – Times of India

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut had filed a plea to transfer Javed Akhtar and her case from Andheri magistrate court to any other court. Now, Javed Akhtar has filed a reply to Kangana’s plea in court.

The ‘Thalaivii’ actress in her statement to the court stated that the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court’s order is wrong as the Magistrate exercised its power without using any judicial mind. It concluded by stating that this failed justice.

Now, Javed has replied to that through his lawyer and stated that Kangana has remained absent on 11 dates when the matter was listed in court.

The lawyer further added that it is totally wrong to state that the 10th Metropolitan Magistrate, Andheri has been directing the actress to be there on all the dates of the hearing.

Javed further alleged that the actress is using delay tactics by filing various pleas. The lyricist also alleged that the summoning in the matter was done on February 1, 2021, however, the plea of Kangana could not be recorded due to her ‘deliberate’ absence.

The reply also stated that ‘the compliance of mandatory provisions of CrPC’ cannot be considered as ‘threats’ or bias’. It further added that the procedure adopted by the Andheri Magistrate has been upheld by Sessions court as well as the Bombay High Court. The said courts didn’t find any irregularity in the procedure.

Now, reportedly, on December 29, Javed’s lawyer will be arguing his case before the court.
