#Rewind2021: Remembering the Tollywood celebs we lost this year | The Times of India

It was yet another sad day for Indian cinema as National Award-winning filmmaker Buddhadeb Dasgupta passed away on June 10. The 77-year-old iconic filmmaker breathed his last at his Kolkata residence. He was suffering from age-related illness for long. Buddhadeb was even undergoing dialysis as was being treated for kidney problems over the past few years. Through his films, both documentaries and features, spanning more than 50 creative years, Buddhadeb Dasgupta tried to blend all these things, adding to them a realization of self-enquiry and self-discovery. From ‘Dooratwa’, ‘Tahader Katha’, ‘Kaalpurush’, ‘Janala’, ‘Grihajuddha’ to his last released film ‘Urojahaj’, the stamp of his individuality has been marked cinematographically as well as through his choice of literary source.
