Ahead of the film’s release, Deepika Padukone, who is also producing the movie, visited Mumbai’s Siddhivinayak Temple to seek blessings. She had also dropped a video on Instagram, expressing her excitement for the film. “It’s incredible and this is how I define ‘83’. For me, ‘83’ is not a film, it’s an emotion. It’s an experience. I don’t think you can define what you feel when you come out of the cinema halls watching this film. They (audience) are laughing with joy, they are crying, they are speechless… I don’t think anyone’s really being able to articulate what they feel or what this movie makes you feel when you come out of the theatres,” Deepika had shared.
Directed by Kabir Khan, ’83 narrated the story of the India cricket team’s win during the world cup in 1983. Speaking about the film, Kabir Khan had exclusively told ETimes, “You know, 83 is a big responsibility for me. I knew if I don’t recreate this correctly, the country will not forgive me. Ditto for Ranveer: If he won’t portray Kapil correctly, the audience will not forgive him. And as you see from the trailer, he has done it brilliantly. He worked very hard.”‘83 also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Chirag Patil, Dinker Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Harrdy Sandhu, Sahil Khattar, Ammy Virk, Adinath Kothare, Dhairya Karwa and R Badree in pivotal roles.
