‘Master’ Hindi remake to go on floors this year – Exclusive – Times of India


Vijay’s ‘Master’ went on to become the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2021. ETimes has learnt that the Hindi remake of the film will be going on floors this year.

A source close to the production said, “We plan to take the film on floors this year and it will be with an established star.”

The remake rights were bought in early 2021 after the film ‘Master’ became the first film to reopen the cinema circuits during the pandemic. There are quite a few stars who are keen to play Vijay‘s character in the Hindi version of the film. The names that are doing the rounds are Salman Khan and Shahid Kapoor.

The Tamil film ‘Master’ was released during Pongal 2021, and the film got back the audience into cinemas post lockdown restrictions. Even with 50% occupancy, the action thriller performed well at the box office and reportedly grossed close to Rs 250 crore at the box office.

Vijay plays the role of a professor while Vijay Sethupathi played the antagonist in this Lokesh Kanagaraj’s directorial. Malavika Mohanan, Shanthanu, Gouri, Poovaiyar, and others played key roles in the film.

Now it remains to be seen who will play the title role in the Hindi version of ‘Master’.
