Vikram Bhatt recalls the time when he was told making ‘Raaz’ would be a mistake – Times of India


Bipasha Basu and Dino Morea starrer ‘Raaz’ clocked 20 years of release today. The supernatural horror film was helmed by Vikram Bhatt and was a remake of Hollywood film ‘What Lies Beneath’. Celebrating the film’s two decade release anniversary, Vikram Bhatt recalled the time when he was advised against making the movie. Speaking to a news portal, the filmmaker revealed that everyone thought he was making a mistake with ‘Raaz’. He added that a big producer even told him that he was making a movie with a flop hero like Dino Morea and the vamp from ‘Ajnabee’ (2001) – Bipasha Basu.

Bipasha Basu also marked 20 years of ‘Raaz’ on social media by sharing the film’s poster. She captioned it “Raaz – Grateful for this film. Raaz is one of my first few films…which got me a direct entry into the hearts of millions of people. Thank you for keeping me in your hearts still. Sending love to the entire cast and crew of Raaz #20yearsofraaz”.

The actress also revealed the fun pranks played by director Vikram Bhatt. Bipasha had shared, “Vikram had this huge gong that he would unexpectedly ring to get the right reaction out of me. The first time he used the gong, I was absolutely caught unaware while walking in pin-drop silence and it was so scary that I shook and screamed loudly! I thought my soul left my body! After that, the gong became my biggest villain! He would use that gong at any point to get a crazy reaction out of me!”
