The song ‘ Toxic Pony’ has gone viral on social media with teens grooving to the catchy tune. But, turns out that the song by music duo ALTÉGO is a mashup of Britney Spears‘ ‘Toxic’ and Ginuwine’s ‘Pony’.

But, did you know that Britney’s 2003 hit song had a sample of its hook from Lata Mangeshkar‘s 1981 song?

Spears’ chart-topper was inspired by the song ‘Tere Mere Beech Mein’ sung by Lata Mangeshkar and S P Balasubramaniam. The love track featured in the film ‘Ek Duuje Ke Liye’ starring Kamal Haasan and Rati Agnihotri.

Britney, on the other hand, became the female artist with the third-most career chart entries, breaking her tie with Taylor Swift. She is also among the very few artists to feature on the Billboard charts in four different decades.
