Veteran Kannada actor Rajesh passes away – Times of India


Veteran Kannada actor Rajesh who was hospitalized at a private hospital in Bengaluru has breathed his last. The actor was suffering from breathing complications and age-related illness. He was 89. The actor will be laid to rest today evening.

Rajesh had got admitted to the hospital on February 9 was put on a ventilator has failed to respond to the treatment. Rajesh had even lost his wife recently. The ace actor was popularly known as Kalaptasavi in Sandalwood. In his career spanning over four and half decades, he has acted in over 150 films. He had also got honorary doctorate from Karnatak University for his contribution to the world of cinema.

Sandalwood actors have expressed their grieff over the demise of Rajesh on social media pages. Rajesh born on 15 April 1935 in Bengaluru. His passion for acting started at a tender age, as he joined a theatre troupe. His stage name was Vidya Sagar. He formed his own theatre troupe called Shakti Nataka Mandali. Nirudyogiya Balu, Badavana Baalu, Visha Sarpa, Nanda Deepa, Chandrodaya and Kittur Rani Chennama were popular plays. He will be seen in the movie Old Monk which is releasing next week.

It was Namma Ooru movie in 1968 shot him into prominence. Since then, he was known as Rajesh. He also tried his hand in singing. He has five children.
