Sonu Sood’s car confiscated by police at a polling booth in Punjab, actor says he was only trying to ‘ensure fair elections’ – Times of India

Sonu Sood has landed in controversy after his car was impounded by the police while polling was underway for the Punjab assembly elections on Sunday. The actor’s sister Malvika Sood is contesting elections from Moga as a congress candidate. Sharing an update on the same, Moga District PRO Pradbhdeep Singh told ANI, “Sonu Sood was trying to enter a polling booth. During this, his car was confiscated and he was sent home. Action will be taken against him if he steps out of his house.”

Reacting to the controversy, Sonu explained that he was only trying to ensure fair elections. “We got to know of threat calls at various booths by opposition, especially the people of Akali Dal. Money being distributed at some booths. So it’s our duty to go check & ensure fair elections. That’s why we had gone out. Now, we’re at home. There should be fair polls,” Sonu Sood told ANI.

While Sonu’s sister is exploring politics, the actor had maintained that he will stay away from the same. He had told BT, “I feel proud that she took the plunge. She has been living there for the past couple of years and knows the issues that matter to people. I am glad she will be able to be in touch with people and help them directly. It is her journey, and I have nothing to do with politics. I will keep doing the work that I have been doing. I won’t be campaigning for her in the elections because I want her to work hard and do her bit. As far as I am concerned, I will always stay away from politics or any political affiliations.”
