Jhund Box Office Collection Day 1: Amitabh Bachchan’s sports drama earns Rs 1 crore – Times of India


Amitabh Bachchan starrer ‘Jhund’ hit the screens on Friday and has opened to an average response. Theatres in Maharashtra, which is one of the biggest markets, have been allowed to operate at full capacity and footfalls were expected to be in huge numbers.

In North too, ‘Jhund’ reportedly scored low. At the end of its first day, ‘Jhund’ is expected to have collected in the range of around Rs 90 lakhs nett to Rs 1 crore nett, reports Boxofficeindia.com. Maharashtra has showered the maximum collection while the figures from across Delhi / UP and East Punjab circuits were very low.

Nagraj Manjule, who delivered a hit like ‘Sairat’, marked his directorial debut in Bollywood with ‘Jhund’. The movie narrates the story of Vijay Barse (Amitabh Bachchan), who founded the NGO Slum Soccer. Speaking about backing the project, producer Bhushan Kumar had told BT, “When I heard a brief narration of the story, wahin se main iss film ke saath jud gaya tha. Hum content se judte hain. As a studio, we make all kinds of films, including action and massy entertainers. Hum ‘Jhund’ bhi banaate hain, ‘Thappad’ bhi banaate hain aur ‘Kabir Singh’ bhi. ‘Jhund’ mein humne football aur slum ke bachhon ki duniya dikhaayi hai. The kids cast in the film are those who live in the slums. The actors are real. We haven’t taken any established actors for kids.”
