Kajol looked gorgeous in a stunning black dress, while Karan looked dapper in a black coat. The duo have been friends for decades but had reportedly fallen out of their friendship when Kajol’s husband Ajay Devgn locked horns with Johar at the box office during a Diwali release, years ago.
In fact, back in 2017 Karan even went on to talk about the same in his autobiography where he wrote, “I don’t have a relationship with Kajol anymore. We have had a fallout.” Pointing towards a Twitter incident over their respective films
Aye Dil Hai Mushkil and
Shivaay which clashed at the box office. “The problem was actually never between her and me. It was between her husband and me, something which only she knows about, he knows about and I know about. But did feel that she needed to apologize for something she didn’t do. I felt that she’s not going to acknowledge 25 years of friendship, if she wants to support her husband, then that’s her prerogative,” he had written.
Months later, there were media reports which hinted at a possible patch-up between them, when the actress ‘liked’ Karan’s Instagram picture of his newly born twins Yash and Roohi. In return, the director also ‘followed’ the actress back on the photo-sharing platform and even showed up for her birthday party.
Contradicting his written words, Karan Johar told PTI, “Kajol is, has always been and will always remain more than special to me, for the time to come. Always.”
The pictures from the birthday party are enough proof for the same.
