‘The Kashmir Files’ records second highest second Friday after ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’ – Times of India

Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘The Kashmir Files‘ is unstoppable at the box office. The film crossed the 100 crore mark in 7 days and recorded the second highest collection on second Friday beating Aamir Khan’s Dangal. With an 8th day collection of Rs 19.5 crore, the film is just a few lakhs behind ‘Baahubali – The Conclusion’ that had collected Rs 19.81 crore, reports boxofficeindia.com.

‘The Kashmir Files‘ stood strong despite competition from Akshay Kumar-starrer ‘Bachchhan Paandey’, whereas ‘Baahubali – The Conclusion’ had no major release on its second Friday. The early estimates of Saturday show further growth in collections and the figures are expected to go higher on Sunday.

‘The Kashmir Files’ is ruling the headlines with reactions pouring in from all corners. The film, which focuses on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley in the 1990s, has been mired in controversy with the BJP and the opposition parties having conflicting views on it. On one side, the film garnered support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and many others, on the other side, it is also being criticised for showing half truth. The Central government has accorded ‘Y’ category security cover to director Vivek Agnihotri with CRPF cover pan India.

‘The Kashmir Files’ stars Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Pallavi Joshi, and Mithun Chakraborty. At a recent promotional event, director Vivek Agnihotri said that it took him and his team four years to research and make the movie. He also hinted at releasing a new web series on the subject saying, “We have so much material that we can produce a series. All accounts are heart-wrenching ones. These are human stories… We are thinking about it… We will come out with a series.”
