The much-awaited biopic is finally releasing in theatres. After much delay, the Soumitra biopic is set to hit the big screens on April 15, celebrating the auspicious occasion of Bengali New Year.

Ahead of the release, the makers have dropped yet another new trailer from the biopic wherein celebs like Paran bandopadhyay, Sidhartha Chattopadhyay, Lili Chakraborty, Kaushik Sen and many others can be seen sharing their memories with Soumitra Chattopadhyay. Sharing the new trailer, Parambrata wrote, “Reminiscences speak of the legacy legends leave behind…

We had launched the trailer of Abhijaan a year ago. The pandemic stopped us from releasing our film last year. This year, with less than month to go for the film’s release, gratefully and proudly we present snippets from the film along with reminiscences from eminent artistes who have collaborated with him at various points.

Abhijaan, releasing at your nearest theatres, this Bengali New Year.
Gratitude 🙏🏼”

In the film, produced by Rataan Shree Nirman & Roadshow Films Pvt. Ltd, Soumitra Chattopadhyay who passed away in 2020 will be seen in his elderly age while Jisshu Sengupta will essay the role of a younger Soumitra. Apart from Jisshu, Paoli Dam will be seen as Suchitra Sen, critically acclaimed filmmaker Qaushiq Mukherjee will essay Satyajit Ray. Sohini Sarkar will play Madhabi Mukhopadhyay. Rudranil Ghosh will take on the role of legendary Rabi Ghosh.

The first trailer of the film has already received quite a lot of praise on social media, especially after Soumitra Chattopadhyay’s demise everyone is eagerly waiting to see the biopic on big screen.

“The starting point was this offer from my co-producers and this doctor who is a resident of New Jersey who has been in charge of translating Soumitra jethu’s prose works into English, so they came up with the idea that something like this might be thought of… and they shared the thought with me. And once they did, I took a good two-three months to decide whether this can actually make for an exciting proposition. And slowly I reached the conclusion that yes, Soumitra Chattapadhyay’s life can be viewed, can be seen from a certain perspective, not just as a film actor that everybody in Bengal knows,” Parambrata had earlier told ETimes while speaking about the biopic.
