Oscars 2022 Winners’ List LIVE: ‘Dune’, Ariana DeBose, Troy Kotsur, ‘Encanto’ off to a winning start at Academy Awards – Times of India


The biggest night in Hollywood, the 94th Academy Awards is finally upon us.

Denis Villeneuve’s science-fiction epic ‘Dune‘, got the night off to a winning start sweeping away top honours in the technical categories, including Best Sound and Best Visual Effects.

Ariana DeBose, who was the favourite of the awards season, won the Best Supporting Actress award for “West Side Story.”

DeBose became the first Afro-Latina and openly LGBTQ actor to win in the category. “To anybody who has ever questioned your identity,” she said, “I promise you there is a place for us.”

The hit animated musical ‘Encanto‘, beat out stiff competition to win the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film.

Hosted by Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes and Regina Hall, the awards are being held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
